Nursing Mothers
During this important time in your life, you can increase your health, confidence and vitality as a new mom! For the nursing mother whose baby is at least two months old, you will want a nutritionally balanced plan that encourages gradual weight loss while supporting your body’s nutritional needs and encouraging the optimal growth of your nursing baby. Once your baby’s diet is less than 30% breast milk, you may choose to switch to the Adult plan, which has a greater calorie and carbohydrate reduction for more rapid weight loss.

Gout
If you suffer with gout, achieving a healthy weight tends to alleviate the stress on your joints and can lower your risk of hyperuricemia. With gout, you should lose weight gradually and steadily, using a meal plan that is slightly more liberal in calories and carbohydrates, yet more restricted in protein to lessen the risk of increased uric acid levels. Higher calorie level promotes a more gradual weight loss and it encourages food choices with only low or moderate amounts of purines.
